Collaboration as a tool for driving Africa's development

Pandemic One Year On- How collaborations can drive education recovery efforts.

It’s one year into the pandemic and every continent is already working tirelessly at their economic and multi-sectoral recovery efforts. The question now is, how does Africa hope to tackle the challenges caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and swiftly rebuild its growing economy?

The challenges we face in Africa are very deep-rooted and multi-sectoral, for her to see meaningful results from our recovery efforts, we must begin to invest in multi-level, multi-sectoral collaborations. This is important? The kinds of challenges we face in Africa are what I like to call ‘wicked problems’, they are interwoven. And it is practically impossible to solve them in isolation.

For example, Education. Education is linked to gender equality, it can also be linked to healthcare and sanitation, it also be linked with transportation, if we look at it on a deeper level we will see that it is linked with national security.

So you see, the solos has to break! We must see how to create an ecosystem that connects all sectors so that can drive the degree of change we are working towards. For this to happen, we must embrace collaborations to solve most of the toughest challenges on our continent.

The pandemic is one year on and there’s no better time than now to start the conversation on how to recover learning for all people but most importantly for Africans. I wrote a post on reimagining education for the covid-19 generation earlier this year.
